Strengthening Investment in Health Security Through the Universal Health and Preparedness Review (UHPR)
This side event will focus on strengthening investment in health security through the Universal Health and Preparedness Review, a voluntary, transparent, Member State-led peer review mechanism for national health emergency preparedness capacities. The session brings together Member States, OIF, and WHO around preparedness review as a tool for accountability, transparency, shared learning, and sustained financing.
The discussion will build on the lessons of COVID-19 and other severe epidemics, which showed the need for whole-of-government and whole-of-society approaches to prevention, detection, preparedness, and response.
It will highlight how peer review can:
- Elevate priority actions to the highest political levels
- Support national action planning for health security
- Strengthen cooperation, solidarity, and best-practice sharing among countries
