Protecting Mental Health of Children and Youth in the Digital World

Nowadays, young generations’ lives are increasingly straddling between the digital and physical worlds, mixing virtual and real experiences in their everyday routines. Even though digital tools can offer better access to knowledge, education, entertainment, social contacts or healthcare, at the same time they also present risks and threats such as cyberbullying, violence, marketing of harmful products and gambling and potential
impact on key health behaviors such as healthy sleep. These impact the mental wellbeing of younger populations. Ensuring online safety for children and youth is becoming a growing concern in many countries and has become a key topic discussed by policy makers.
The issue of the negative impact of the digital technologies on children’s and youth’s  mental health is a global challenge.
