Protecting Healthcare in Conflict: Strengthening Data, Accountability, and Global Response
Attacks on healthcare in conflict zones continue to undermine
international humanitarian law, disrupt essential medical
services, and endanger the lives of health workers and civilians.
This WHA side event will highlight the importance of systematic
data collection, improved documentation, and strengthened
accountability frameworks to protect healthcare in conflict
settings better. Building on WHO’s SSA and the recent joint
WHO-WISH “In the Line of Fire” report, the event will
contribute to global efforts to safeguard healthcare, reinforce
international commitments, and explore ways to integrate
WHO’s work with broader UN mechanisms addressing attacks
on civilians in conflict.
