Promoting Peace and Health: Public Health’s Role
Peace is a fundamental social determinant of health.
In a time of increasingly destructive, violent conflicts and war, in the midst of the ongoing climate crisis and environmental degradation, this event aims to reinforce the health sector’s role as an indispensable contributor to peace and security policy, using established public health frameworks to address war and the logic of war as preventable determinants of ill health.
Participants on the panel will advocate for the adoption of a global norm to integrate these principles into public health curricula, thereby encouraging health leadership for peace at the national and international levels.
