Progress towards parity: championing mental health within the global NCD debate
Mental health conditions affect 1 in 8 people worldwide,[i] and there is a significant unmet need in serious mental illnesses. Despite this burden, mental health conditions are often sidelined in global health policy discussions. The upcoming UN High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health (UN HLM) in September presents a vital opportunity to reshape the conversation and ensure that mental and physical health receive equal attention in global debate.
Join our panel of experts to learn more about:
- How physical and mental health are closely connected
- How policy interventions and advocacy can help reduce the burden of serious mental illness on individuals, healthcare systems and society
- Success stories of countries addressing both physical and mental health needs
