One Health for All to Improve Global Public Health
This meeting will convene policymakers, experts, and partners to advance the One Health approach for global public health.
This high-level, invitation-only side event, held during the World Health Assembly and co-organized by the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association (CPMA) and the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA), will convene selected policymakers, experts, and partners to advance the One Health approach and strengthen global public health security.
As emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, food insecurity, climate change, and human–animal interactions increasingly threaten global health, the need for coordinated, cross-sector collaboration has never been greater. While the One Health framework offers a comprehensive pathway forward, significant gaps remain between policy development and real-world implementation.
The event will examine how to better align policy with practical surveillance and response strategies—shifting from siloed, reactive systems to integrated, forward-looking risk assessment frameworks. Discussions will focus on enhancing early warning systems, sharing implementation experiences, and identifying concrete mechanisms to bridge policy–practice gaps.
A key highlight will be the launch of the Global One Health Index (GOHI) Version 3.0, a standardized tool designed to assess and strengthen One Health capacities at both national and global levels.
The meeting aims to deepen understanding of complex health threats, advance integrated surveillance and risk assessment approaches, and reinforce international collaboration to safeguard global public health security.
