From Resolution to Results: A Replicable Model for Drowning Prevention Implementation

Drowning remains a leading cause of preventable mortality among children and young people globally, despite the adoption of World Health Assembly resolution WHA76.18 (2023), which call for accelerated and coordinated action. The session will highlight strengthened governance, enhanced surveillance, and cross sector collaboration as central drivers of progress. By showcasing a structured and scalable national model, the event offers Member States practical insights to accelerate drowning prevention and strengthen injury prevention systems in alignment with global mandates and Sustainable Development Goal 3.
