From COVID-19 lessons to action: the evolution of the WHO Health Emergencies Programme

This WHO Strategic Roundtable marks more than six years since WHO declared COVID-19 a Public Health Emergency of International Concern and a decade since the establishment of the WHO Health Emergencies Programme.

Global public health leaders will take stock of lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and examine how these lessons have been translated into institutional reforms and broader commitments across WHO.

The discussion will explore how innovations developed during and after the pandemic are shaping emergency response in complex settings and strengthening national capacities for pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.
