Digital health wallets for better continuity of care

A WHA 79 side event organized by the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research at WHO, and the WHO Department of Data, Digital Health, Analytics and AI and with support from Temasek Foundation

Trusted digital credentials and person-held digital health records make health information more secure, portable and verifiable across providers, programmes and borders. They let people hold and share verified health information, support more coordinated care, and contribute to health security. The amended International Health Regulations, which from 19 September 2025 require countries to recognize a digital International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis alongside the paper Yellow Card, have given this work fresh urgency.

This side event marks the launch of a new three-year partnership between the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research, the WHO Department of Data, Digital Health, Analytics and AI, and Temasek Foundation to help selected ASEAN countries implement interoperable digital health wallets.

It will bring together ministries of health, digital health and immunization leaders, development partners and implementers to hear from participating countries, share early lessons, and identify where partnership and scale-up are most needed. The Temasek Foundation–WHO partnership agreement will be signed during the event.
