Delivering the Road Map for Chronic Respiratory Disease Care

Chronic respiratory diseases affect over 500 million people worldwide and are a leading cause of death and economic loss.

The adoption of the landmark global resolution on integrated lung health at the 78th World Health Assembly and the political declaration on noncommunicable diseases and mental health in December have set a clear “line in the sand,” but the path to 2030 remains challenging. The key now will be to translate these necessarily ambitious multilateral commitments into an integrated approach to lung health rooted in concrete action and policymaking at the national level.

Held alongside the 79th World Health Assembly as part of Devex Impact House, this high-level convening will explore how countries can operationalize the NCD political declaration’s four key pillars — prevention, early diagnosis, treatment access, and long-term monitoring — to turn political commitments into concrete, measurable action. The discussion will highlight practical solutions, from AI-enabled diagnostics to sustainable financing, aimed at closing the implementation gap and delivering measurable progress in lung health by 2030.
