Advancing Health Equity for Bleeding Disorders

The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) is thrilled to invite you to a side-event on “Advancing Health Equity for Bleeding Disorders” at the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA). This side-event is co-hosted with the Swiss Haemophilia Association and organized at a crucial time for the global bleeding disorders community, in anticipation of the adoption of the Member State-led WHA resolution on “Global Action to Advance Health Equity for People with Hemophilia and Other Bleeding Disorders” during the WHA79 agenda (May 18-23, 2026). This landmark resolution is led by Armenia, with co-sponsorship from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Georgia, Iraq, Latvia, Malta, Morocco, Nepal, Paraguay, Spain, Sri Lanka and Togo. This side-event will focus on raising awareness and engaging international health stakeholders on key barriers and effective strategies to increase health equity for people with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders – key priorities for the eventual implementation of the resolution if adopted.

Side-event Objectives:

  • Highlight the pivotal role of the global bleeding disorders community in advocacy leading up to the anticipated adoption of the WHA Resolution
  • Raise awareness among WHO, Member States and other international health stakeholders on the importance of creating global coordinated policy framework and actions through the WHA Resolution as a powerful tool towards advancing health equity for people with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders.
  • Foster Collaboration between WFH, partner organizations, WHO and its Member States for future implementation of the resolution.
