Accelerating Women’s Health Science and Innovation: A Policy Agenda for Impact and White Paper Launch

Despite accounting for more than half the global population, only 7% of healthcare research focuses on conditions that exclusively affect women. This WHA78 side event will bridge global policy recommendations with political momentum and implementation pathways, showcasing how national governments and global institutions can turn analysis into action. As G20 milestones approach, the event will spotlight cervical cancer elimination as a powerful example of how inclusive innovation can drive measurable gains in women’s health and health system resilience.

Co-organised by the Government of South Africa, PATH, the World Economic Forum’s Global Alliance for Women’s Health, and the Gates Foundation, the session will convene global leaders for a timely, high-level dialogue on embedding women’s health innovation in national and global policy agendas.

Speakers lineup:

  • Melanie Saville, Chief Scientific Officer, PATH
  • Amira Ghouaibi, Head, Global Alliance for Women’s Health, World Economic Forum
  • Catharina Boehme, Assistant Director-General, External Relations and Governance, WHO
  • Christine Mayer-Nicolai, Vice President, Global Regulatory and Scientific Policy, Merck
