Invite Only: Artificial Intelligence for Health and Disease Elimination: Cross-Sector Action for Impact
GLIDE will convene its third iteration of the roundtable series at the 79th World Health Assembly to explore practical cross-sector applications and identify pathways for responsible integration of AI into health systems, with a focus on collaboration, sustainability, and ethical governance.
GLIDE launched its AI and Health Roundtable Series in 2025 to explore how artificial intelligence can be applied responsibly and effectively across health systems. The inaugural roundtable, he inaugural roundtable, Harnessing AI for Disease Elimination: A Gamechanger in Public Health, was convened during Abu Dhabi Global Health Week 2025, followed by Artificial Intelligence for Health and Disease Elimination: From Strategy to Scalable Action which occurred at the 79th United Nations General Assembly. Together, these convenings brought AI technical experts, healthcare leaders, policymakers, and innovators into dialogue to identify practical pathways for applying AI to some of the most pressing challenges in global health. Discussions highlighted concrete use cases — from AI and big data analytics to predict malaria hotspots, to AI-enabled ultrasound improving maternal and newborn outcomes in underserved settings — demonstrating the potential for real-world impact.
Participants also highlighted persistent barriers, including gaps in policy and governance, unresolved questions around ethics and data sovereignty, and the enduring “language gap” between AI developers and health practitioners that slows translation from innovation to implementation.
