About
WHA Guide is a crowdsourced calendar dedicating to sharing the many official and unofficial side events taking place during the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva. WHA Guide is designed for anyone with an interest in global health and made to support meaningful engagement and connection over the course of the World Health Assembly. We hope WHA Guide can help you navigate a busy week, whether you’re tuning in from Generva or abroad, and help you join a global network of thinkers and leaders working to shape the future of health.
What is the World Health Assembly?
From 19-26 May, health leaders will gather at the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva. This major event brings together key stakeholders to discuss and set goals for the world’s pressing health issues, including universal health coverage, pandemic preparedness, climate change, and much more.
This year, WHA is going to look different. Due to significant funding constraints, including reduced contributions from key donors, WHA 78 will see a cut in operational spending. Expect shorter meetings, and limited evening sessions.
On the docket for this year:
- A “green” text of the Pandemic Accord will be put to consideration of the Assembly
- The WHO African Region will select its new Regional Director
- Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), universal health coverage (UHC), antimicrobial resistance (AMR), climate and health, and health funding are all on the agenda, alongside much more
