Private financial actors and corporations in global health: Strengthening governance and accountability in the public interest

The SDG era has ushered in an unprecedented reliance on
private finance in global health. As these private actors gain
influence, new investment narratives, financial instruments,
and governance structures are reshaping health systems
worldwide. While significant attention has been given to the
idea of ‘win-win’ partnerships with private actors in the pursuit
of health goals, the risks of harm of unchecked financialization
and corporatisation of healthcare has received less scrutiny.
The event will discuss case studies and strategies for
strengthening public health leadership, enhancing regulatory
frameworks, and establishing clear guidelines to hold powerful
private actors accountable while safeguarding the public
interest and advancing UHC.
